Emanuele Gonetto is an Italian Casting Style instructor
I was born and raised in the North West of Italy very close to the mountain streams of the Alps.My father was a rod builder and a fly fishing shop owner. I cast my first fly rod at the age of 10 and I have been screwed ever since…..After chasing trout and grayling in the bouldery rivers of Northern Italy for almost 2 decades I then moved to Scotland. Officially for work purposes but in reality I was driven by the prospect of living the dream in a fishing paradise. The Clyde, Tummel and Tweed became my fly fishing personal playground. After several memorable years I then moved to East Yorkshire which is what I call home nowadays. Pickering Beck, Rye and Yorks Dove have now been my home waters for 5 years and the fishing can range from very good to spectacular…..just a lucky boy really! My passion is river fishing for trout and grayling with wee dries….. Favourite fishing spots: it’s got to be a tie between the Lamar valley in the North East corner of Yellowstone NP and a secret stretch on the Clyde valley. Unforgettable experience: chasing wild trout in the middle of Glasgow with my pal Alistair from “urban fly fishing on the kelvin”. When not fishing I like to read about fishing…..John Gierach preferably. I am a member of “Pickering fishing association”, “Fly Dressers Guild of East Yorkshire” and “Dove Fly Fishers”
….and the Italian casting technique is rocking my world.
